Nannying

Description:

I am a nanny, which I’ve come to realize has more responsibilities than watching a few kids for a couple of hours. I take care of eight children, five days a week. I also run errands when necessary, and help clean the house. When the parents go out of town, which happens to be quite often, I become solely responsible.

How I got the idea / found the employment:

A lot of my friends nanny, and they make a lot of money. I’ve always wanted a good, high paying job, so I realized this could be the job for me. It didn’t take much searching for the family because they only live right down the road from me. They were in need of help, and it just happened to fall right into my lap.

Challenges I faced, and how I overcame them:

There are many challenges I face. I never realized how hard it would be to be a mother. Especially of eight children! It takes a lot of effort to keep them all inline, and to not lose one of them. By the end of the day I am always so exhausted. Another challenge I face sometimes is motivation. After an extended period of time working I became lazy and didn’t want to go to work. It took a lot for me to show up for work, but I love the children so it is completely worth it (most of the time :)).

What I learned:

I’ve learned to have patience. So much patience. I’ve also learned a lot of qualities I will need when I’m a mother. I’ve learned how to become a discipliner, in a good way. I’ve gained the respect of the children, not only do they respect me, they know me and trust me. I’ve learned so many good qualities, and am so grateful for the children I nanny, they are wonderful and I love them so much.
