Domestic Assistant

Domestic Assistant

Description:

I know a lot of students take advantage of the young married couples who have classes and offer to baby-sit while they are in classes. It gives them a chance to get money as well as stay on campus. In addition, I know friends that have homesat. This is extremely easy and fun. They stay at someones house while the owners are on vacation, take care of the house (pets, if any) and get paid for it. This is great because sometimes they will allow the students to have friends over-thats how I learned about this idea. And the houses are usually extremely nice, which makes them worth guarding and also worth sitting, because the pay is usually really nice. I had a cousin do something similar to this-she went as a nanny (sort of a housesitter and babysitter in one) to Philadelphia. It was good for her to learn how to do all the things mothers are responsible for in a limited setting. I've done this before too actually, with my own siblings and it really broadened my view of how hard it is to not only provide for a family, but to plan and organize it.

How I got the idea / found the employment:

I got the idea when I remembered visiting a party with someone who homesat and thought it was such a great and easy thing to do. They were able to do everything they needed to do-homework, job, etc and they didn't have to pay rent or buy the house, but they could enjoy all the perks and amenities. I got to baby-sit because my dad went out of town. It was really great because I was in my own home setting with my own family, but I was getting paid to be more than just an older sister; I was suddenly the caretaker.

Challenges I faced, and how I overcame them:

Sometimes the problem is that these are not your children or your house so you have to adhere to rules and situations that you aren't familiar with, but that usually comes with any new job. In addition, baby-sitting and house-sitting can be a little hard to find if you aren't in a populated area full of young people.

What I learned:

I learned how to handle a lot of stress in my life and how to take care of people when I was baby-sitting and I learned from the homesitting experience that jobs don't always have to include work or a lot of things to do.

Personal Assitant/Paid Wife

Description:

This job was very feasible because it allows me to work on my own time. Although I am working for someone else he knows my times restrictions. I am always available on text, and he can quickly tell me what he needs. I do things from grocery shopping, cleaning the house, going clothing shopping or house decoration shopping. I have school in the afternoon so I am able to get all accomplished in the mornings.

All a person has to do is submit what they need to be done for them on a weekly or daily bases and then someone will read this and see if they qualify for it.

How I got the idea / found the employment:

I found this job by talking to a friend of mine who is graduated and not married. He owns his own business and finds himself very busy. At first we joked about how he should hire a wife, but then our jokes started to sound like a great plan. I have plenty of time and just do the things that a wife would normally do with him.

I just started working for my friend and the word got around to other people and now I have people talking to me about being their Personal Assistant.

Challenges I faced, and how I overcame them:

At first it was complicated learning where stuff went when I went grocery shopping or what brand they wanted, but I overcame this by simple communication. Also I had to change the time I got up in the morning to at least two hours earlier so that I could get everything accomplished that he needed me to do before I had to go to school. This was more challenging to fix because it meant I had to go to bed earlier.

What I learned:

It is actually possible for a person to be self employed and fit school and work into one day. It was also encouraging to know that I was able to do a job that required skills I already had and things that I love to do, like plan.
